What is a Satoshi?

Many people think you have to buy a whole Bitcoin, but that isn’t true. Bitcoin breaks down into tiny pieces, and the smallest piece is called a satoshi (or “sat” for short).

Named after Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, one satoshi represents 0.00000001 BTC.

To be precise, there are 100 million sats in one Bitcoin.

Think of it like dollars and cents, but much more precise.

– 1 Dollar = 100 Cents

– 1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 Satoshis

This means even if Bitcoin costs $1 million someday, you can still buy $5 worth. You would just be buying a few hundred sats.

“Stacking sats” has become a popular strategy for savers. Instead of worrying about buying a whole coin, they just try to accumulate as many sats as possible every week.

So don’t worry about the high price tag. Whether you have pennies or millions, there is always room on the network for one more satoshi.
