How we work

Editorial Standards

Bit By Bitcoin exists to help people understand Bitcoin from zero. Not to sell it, hype it, or tell anyone what to do with their money. This page explains how the content is made, how it's checked, and how mistakes get fixed.

How a page is made

1. Research starts with primary sources.Facts come from the original material wherever possible: the Bitcoin whitepaper, Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs), the Bitcoin Core software and its documentation, and official data from central banks and government statistics offices. Other books and articles help with explaining, but they're never the only basis for a fact.

2. AI helps with the drafting.AI tools help draft and organise the material. That's how one library can cover a 184-term encyclopedia, 365 daily lessons, and more. It's a tool, not an author.

3. A person checks every page before it goes live.Every page is read and checked by a human: facts against sources, explanations for clarity, and anything that sounds like a promise, a prediction or a sales pitch gets cut. If a claim can't be backed up, it doesn't go in.

4. Plain English, real terms.Jargon gets explained, not removed. You'll still see words like “UTXO” or “seed phrase”, with a clear explanation, so you'll recognise them anywhere else.

Accuracy and updates

  • Sources. Encyclopedia entries list the primary sources behind them at the bottom of the page, so you can check them yourself.
  • “Last reviewed” dates. Each reviewed entry shows when it was last checked against its sources. That date only changes when someone actually re-checks the entry, never automatically.
  • Keeping up. Bitcoin itself changes slowly. The world around it (laws, taxes, ETFs, fees) changes faster. Entries that depend on time-sensitive facts are re-checked when those facts change.

Corrections

Spotted something wrong? Tell us here. Every report gets read. If it's confirmed, the page is fixed and its “Last reviewed” date is updated. Corrections that change the meaning of a page are noted on that page.

What we never do

  • No paid placements. Nobody pays to be mentioned, recommended or reviewed.
  • No promotion of other cryptocurrencies or tokens. Some are explained, so you understand what you might run into. None are promoted.
  • No price predictions and no “buy now” urgency. Understanding first. What you do with it is up to you.
  • No financial advice. Bit By Bitcoin is education, not advice. See the full Disclaimer.

How Bit By Bitcoin is funded

Through its books, an online course, and reader donations. Some links to Amazon may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, Bit By Bitcoin may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what gets explained or recommended.

Why there's no author name

Bit By Bitcoin is published as a brand, not a personality. Bitcoin's own creator stayed anonymous so the work would be judged on its own merits. The same principle applies here: check the sources, not the names.
